While McLaren's 'mini-DRS' wing fully complied with the regulations and was legal at all times, Tombazis did reveal that the FIA's ultimate conclusion was that it was not happy with the design.

Asked whether the team would have been reported for a rules breach if it had continued to use mini-DRS, Tombazis said: "Yes, we would have, because we specifically gave a warning to them.

"We said, 'Look, we consider that as something you need to change.' If they had ignored us, and they generally don't, then we would have reported them."

It has since emerged, however, that the FIA has taken further action in defining to all teams what it deems acceptable when it comes to the rear wings – as other outfits were also understood to be messing around with opening up the slot gap.

The FIA's head of single-seater matters Nikolas Tombazis has revealed that as a result of new guidelines that were sent to teams, several of them had to make tweaks for Austin – with McLaren the only one that has so far admitted to it.

"We issued after Singapore some communication about rear wings, saying what we would consider acceptable or not acceptable," explained Tombazis. "Two or three teams had to make some small tweaks to adjust to that."

It is not confirmed which other teams had to make changes as a response to the FIA guidance, but sources suggest that all of 2024's race-winning outfits have been under the spotlight for potentially pushing the limit of the rules with regard to rear wing flexing

- 22 Οκτ 2024, 20:33 #875045 Για να δουμε λιγο,μετα τις απαραιτητες αλλαγες σε flex wings και mini DRS,που επεβαλε η FIA,η ομαδα απο το woking σαφως εχει χασει ρυθμο,σαφως εχει χασει το πλεονεκτημα που ειχε.Ειναι ομως αυτος ο λογος που στο Austin δεν ειχαν ρυθμο τοσο γρηγορο η απλως ειναι η πιστα?

Ο Piastri δεν ειχε ανταγωνιστικο pace,ο Norris με την κιτρινη γομα δεν απειλησε καθολου ουτε τον Verstappen,μολις εβαλε την ασπρη,με 6 γυρους πιο φρεσκα,μονο τοτε ειδαμε να απειλει,αλλα κυριως λογω της πιο φρεσκης γομας.

Περιμενω και τους επομενους 1-2 αγωνες να δω πως θα αντιδρασουν,αλλα το γεγονος οτι ο Norris εχασε ποντους,τοσο στο sprint,οσο και στον αγωνα,δεν δειχνει πως προλαβαινει να κανει κατι για το πρωταθλημα.
