What's happening with your investments
Hello VASILEIOS,
You might have seen the recent news about global stock markets going down in value, which has impacted your investments. It’s mainly down to events happening in the US, and the knock-on effect on companies around the world.
US import tariffs are expected to hurt global trade
On 2 April, US President Donald Trump announced new and wide-ranging import tariffs. These make it more expensive for US companies and consumers to buy foreign products. That could hurt both international companies that sell to the US, and US companies that rely on parts from overseas. Some investors are worried this could slow down the US economy and even tip it into a recession.
Investors are uncertain what to expect next
Other countries are now expected to respond with their own tariffs – and some already have. That’s made things even more uncertain for investors, who are finding it harder to predict how global companies will perform.
This is driving a wide-ranging sell-off of shares around the world, which is causing significant volatility for your investments.
Stock market dips are usually temporary
We know it can feel unsettling to see your investments go down in value. As in recent days, falls related to global events can be dramatic but, historically, markets have consistently bounced back.
When market moves are all over the news, it’s natural to feel concerned, especially if you’re seeing your own investments affected.
But staying invested over the long term gives you the best chance of growing your money. Past performance is not a guarantee of future returns though.

Your funds are diversified
The funds we offer are all built to help manage risk. They spread your money across lots of different regions, industries and types of investments so if one area isn’t doing well, another might be doing better. It’s called diversification, and it’s one of the best ways to reduce the impact of market swings.
Global events, like the ones we are experiencing now, will still affect many of the investments held in your fund. But diversification means that your fund is better positioned to benefit from a recovery, as this might happen at a different rate for different regions or industries.
