While late to the party, Honda was not to be outdone in technology. The Legend’s intercooled “Wing Turbo” engine had four airfoil-shaped vanes (which Honda called wings) positioned around the turbine. Half of each wing was fixed while the other half pivoted like an aircraft flap. The movement of the flaps, which was managed by the engine computer, controlled the flow of exhaust gas to the turbine — varying the effective A/R ratio — to reduce turbo lag without restricting high-speed power. Nissan’s 1,998 cc (122 cu. in.) VG20ET “Jet Turbo” engine had used a similar principle for several years, but the Jet Turbo provided only two A/R ratios while the Wing Turbo’s was continuously variable.
The turbo included with the VG20ET had two different settings. At low speeds, the turbo's wastegate would stay closed improving the response at low rpm. At high speeds, the flap would stay open, decreasing resistance and increasing exhaust flow. At its maximum flow, the flap would open at an angle of 27 degrees, while the A/R ranged from 0.21–0.77

Δουλεύεις λοιπόν τον κινητήρα στην πόλη, αλλάζεις από φανάρι σε φανάρι από πρώτη σε τρίτη και ξανασταματάς, οπότε μπαίνει το σταρτ-στοπ κι ο κινητήρας σβήνει, παρακάτω το ίδιο και ούτω καθ' εξής. Τι συμβαίνει λοιπόν με την τουρμπίνα σε αυτήν την περίπτωση;
