Much is said by executives at the Geneva Auto Show, but the real meat is in the subtext. Here's a rundown of what Ferrari REALLY had to say, once you parse the words coming from the bosses' mouths.
On efficiency...
Quote:
"The best solution for efficiency is turbo plus direct injection."
- Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa
Meaning:
It's not the best solution for a Ferrari, but they have no choice. But you won't see it on all the cars.
On electric superchargers...
Quote:
"It's not necessary."
- Ferrari Chairman Sergio Marchionne
Meaning:
We won't see electric superchargers (electrically powered turbos) on Ferraris unless specific output rises above 180-200 hp/liter. Below that, lag can be reduced to a level where customers don't notice it.
On the V12's future...
Quote:
"The 12-cylinder won't be as significant a part of the portfolio as it was before the FCA spinoff." -Marchionne
Meaning:
Because Ferrari has been spun off into an independent company (and is no longer part of Fiat-Chrysler), it's no longer subject to the (European) aggregation rules for CO2 output. That means Ferrari has to sell more "efficient" cars (the turbo V8s) to reduce the fleet's average emissions so that it can sell the "real" cars (the V12s).

On what's in the pipeline...

Meaning:
We have no idea. But something with a V12 is coming, and it'll be fast as hell.
On the California's performance...

Meaning:
The California T is certainly not held to the same engineering and performance standards as the 488 GTO. If you've driven a California, however, that won't come as a surprise.
Ferrari
On SUVs and sedans...

"The answer is no." -Marchionne
Meaning:
Ferrari won't build anything with four doors. "The cars in the portfolio will change, but the structure of the portfolio won't."
On Ferraris being too noisy...

"If this is the case, buy a Toyota." -Marchionne
Meaning:
Marchionne doesn't want to be questioned on whether it's possible to make Ferraris quieter, even if that means they're too loud to be driven on race tracks.
Ferrari
On a turbo V12...

"We love the 12-cylinder and try to defend it wherever we can. To turbocharge a V12, you'll get more than 1000 hp, which is stupid."-Felisa
Meaning:
Expect other measures to make the V12 more efficient – or, more likely, a change in the model mix to reduce the fleet's overall emissions. And don't expect a 1000-hp Ferrari. Yet.
