So why is the discovery of gravitation waves so important? You might not know the theory, you might not understand the science, you might not care about cosmological physics or whatever... but....
A small little intelligent species calling themselves humans, living somewhere in an observable universe of 13.8 billion years old, can write specific math equations and explain how that universe works with great precision, without having any proof whatsoever, based only on pure maths, physics, science... then 100 years afterwards, manages to create hardware and do experiments that prove the math theory right.
Because science
